What is Myopia?

Myopia (nearsightedness) is more than blurry distance vision. As a child’s prescription increases, the eye continues to grow longer. This increased eye length raises the lifetime risk of:

  • Retinal detachment

  • Glaucoma

  • Myopic maculopathy

  • Early cataracts

Slowing progression early can significantly reduce long-term eye health risks.

What Makes Our Program Different?

Unlike a standard yearly eye exam, our Myopia Management Program:

  • Measures and monitors eye growth (axial length), not just prescription

  • Provides personalized, evidence-based treatment plans

  • Focuses on proactive care — not just stronger lenses

  • Includes follow-up visits every 3–6 months

  • Offers ongoing education and support for families

Is My Child a Candidate?

Your child may benefit if they:

  • Are already nearsighted

  • Have a prescription that worsens each year

  • Have one or both parents who are nearsighted

  • Spend significant time on near work or screens

  • Spend limited time outdoors

During a consultation, we evaluate your child’s individual risk factors and discuss the best treatment options.
